The Beginning

This is my story. And the picture is of me. Piper.

This picture was taken in June 06, in Gibbons, Alberta. I was part of a herd of 104 Feral horses.

Story has it, that we had an owner and he passed. His partner did the best that she could, and the lot of us were sent to Gibbons. A horse rescue came and did a wonderful job of documenting us. The broker decided he wanted to get these horses gone, so we were cast to the fates. He also seriously underestimated the amount of feed we would need.

So, after we were catologued, other rescues became involved.

One the first truck load, it was decided that the weak needed to be moved. Babies and a few mares. The worst stayed in Alberta, as the move would have been to much for them. I was passed by. A few people checked me out, but they all thought I was just too far gone for them.

By the second truck load, my mom got involved. She thought I was perfect. Ok, so I'm a little cowhocked. And starved. Wormy.
